House On Fire weave

I bought a vintage Singer 367 sewing machine for my studio during Covid Lockdown, from Jacobs Haberdashery in Bexhill. I've been on a steep learning curve with it, especially with regard to bobbins!

Recently I've been making weave works with the Singer. I first cut the printed image of a house on fire into 1 cm strips. I mix the strips up randomly, and then weave them one by one back into an image. I then sew the image onto a cotton drill fabric backing. One of these weaves will form a panel within my new wall-based work; Inkling #2.

The House On Fire image is the one that appears as a background to my Lexicon and A Flicker of Recognition works. I ripped it from the internet in 2019.
